Downtown Streetscape Project April-2012

An open house on the Raytown Central Business District (CBD)
Streetscape Design project will be held on will be held Monday April 16
from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Raytown City Hall.  Business owners, property owners,
residents and anyone else who is interested in the project are invited to stop
by anytime to review the proposed streetscape plans, ask questions or provide
comments.  A steering committee comprised of downtown business and
property owners, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of
Aldermen have worked the Kansas City based consulting firm of Confluence over
the past few months to develop the proposed plans. The proposed streetscape
plans include wider sidewalks, landscaping, pedestrian oriented street
lighting, and increased amount of on-street parking.  Members of the
steering committee as well as the project consultant team along city staff will
be available at the open house to answer questions about the design and the
process for constructing the proposed streetscape improvements. Construction of
phase 1 of the streetscape improvements, which will be along 63
Street from Raytown Road to Blue Ridge Boulevard, is anticipated to begin this
fall with completion in the spring 2013.  75% of the funding for
construction of the phase 1 improvements is being provided through a Federal
Transportation Enhancement grant the City of Raytown received in 2011.
The city is providing the remaining funding for phase 1 construction.
