Letter from the Chair
As a resident of Raytown since 1996, I have seen many changes in our town. Driving along 350 Highway, I can look at a building or property and reminisce on what used to be. Changes of business, updates, renovations, and road improvements are visible. Our high schools are receiving some well-deserved renovations, and I am excited to see them complete. As a proud graduate of Raytown South High School, I am happy to see construction of the new Performing Arts Center and Auxiliary Gym. I have many fond memories of attending and performing in orchestra concerts, musicals, and the end of year show, Southern Comfort.
Growing up, my family lived in a great area with lots of neighborhood kids to hang out with. I grew up one block away from my best friend and just down the street from a great park. My husband and I met in Forensics class in high school- his name still resides on a National Qualifier Forensics plaque in a display case at Raytown South.
Over the years we have seen Kansas City grow to new heights as a major player in sports with World Series and Super Bowl championships- something I am blessed to have witnessed in my life time. We have witnessed the introduction of a stadium dedicated to women’s soccer and a boom of interest in worldwide soccer. In the near future our town will be in the thick of the largest sporting event on the planet, with international fans flooding our town. All eyes will be on the Kansas City metropolitan area and Raytown will be positively impacted.
I have been a chamber member for over 7 years and a board member since 2023. Being an active member, I have met countless chamber members, made connections, and conducted business. I have had the opportunity to learn more about what our town and its businesses offer- great parks, unique businesses, and rich history. I invite you all to step out of your comfort zone- attend a luncheon, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, or an after-hours networking event and introduce yourself to someone new. You may find a new colleague, a new business deal, or a new friend. Continue to challenge yourself, get involved, and be the change you wish to see in our community.
Sincerely,
Jourdan Price, Chair of the Board
